Gym operator attacked with sword over parking dispute
Indore: A minor dispute over car parking in Aerodrome area of Indore turned violent after a gym operator was assaulted with a sword by his neighbour. The incident which took place on 60 Feet Road came to light after a video of the attack surfaced on social media, prompting police to take cognisance and initiate an investigation.Ashu Vyas, who runs a gym in the locality, had an argument with his neighbour Rakesh Khandelwal over parking. The verbal spat escalated quickly and Khandelwal allegedly reached the spot armed with a sword and launched an attack. Sensing danger, Vyas remained alert and managed to defend himself as the accused swung the weapon towards him.Vyas tried to restrain the attacker, and within moments, other residents and eyewitnesses gathered at the spot. They intervened and separated the two, preventing further escalation. During the assault, Vyas also attempted to stop the sword with his hand.The entire incident was captured by bystanders and the footage has since circulated widely online.Aerodrome police station in-charge Tarun Bhati said that by Monday evening, both the parties reached a compromise at the police station. But, given the seriousness of the sword attack, police have continued their inquiry independently.
On Tuesday, the accused returned to the police station and apologised publicly in the presence of police officials and local residents, holding his ears and seeking forgiveness from the gym operator for the assault carried out a day earlier.
