Fruit seller loses both feet in Khargone road accident
Khargone: A collision between a speeding trailer and a scooter at Navgrah Temple Square in Khargone city has left a fruit seller critically injured, with both his feet amputated.The accident occurred on Friday when a fast-moving trailer rammed into a scooter from behind at the busy Navgrah intersection. Two persons were riding the scooter when the trailer dragged them for some distance after impact. One of the victims came under the wheels of the trailer, resulting in severe injuries to his legs.The injured were rushed to the district hospital, from where one of them, identified as Prakash Verma, a fruit seller, resident of Mata Chowk in Tavdi area, was referred to Indore due to his critical condition.District hospital doctor Aditya Jadhav said that one of his feet was completely severed in the accident, while the other was badly crushed along with serious head injuries.Eyewitnesses and passersby reportedly collected the severed part in a bag and rushed it to the hospital in an attempt to assist doctors. However, medical experts later confirmed that reattachment was not possible.Prakash Verma underwent surgery at a private hospital in Indore on Saturday morning, where doctors amputated his second foot as well due to extensive damage.
His condition remains serious but stable, family member Sachin Verma said.The second injured, identified as Deepak Verma, is currently undergoing treatment at the district hospital and is said to be out of danger.Kotwali Police have seized the trailer involved in the accident and taken its driver into custody.
