Ujjain: A dispute after two motorcycles collided near Ujjain turned violent on Friday when a group pelted stones at police personnel outside Mahidpur Road police station, injuring four officials
The trouble began at noon in Gogapur, about 75 km from district headquarters, when the motorcycles met with accident. A dispute broke out between the riders, and members of Banjara community gathered at the spot. A Dial 112 team dispersed both parties, but a group from one side soon reassembled outside Porwal Dharmashala, near the police station, and began creating a disturbance. When TI Ramsingh Bhabor, ASI Sureshchandra Songara, head constable Samrthlal and constable Madan Paggi went to disperse the crowd, they were pelted with stones. Bhabor was hit on head and near the eye. The other three sustained injuries on their backs and hands.
"Some people were brought to the police station after the accident. Their supporters gathered outside the police station and pelted stones. A case has been registered," SP Pradeep Sharma said.
On constable Madan's complaint, cases of rioting and obstructing govt duty have been registered against Ratan Banjara, Bharat Banjara, Sardar Banjara, Toofan Banjara, Hakam Banjara, Vakeel Banjara, Geetabai Banjara and others. Some have been taken into custody while a search is on for the rest.
