Fire destroys four huts , Rs 2.5 lakh cash & goods in Dewas
Indore: A fire broke out in Dewas district's Newri Phata area on Saturday afternoon, destroying four huts, cash and household goods.After the fire was extinguished, bundles of partially burnt notes amounting to around Rs 2.5 lakh were recovered.The incident occurred around 12:30 pm behind a police outpost on Dewas-Bhopal Road.Babulal Nath, a trader who sells detergent and plastic goods across states, told the police that approximately Rs 7 lakh in cash was kept inside his hut. Nath had recently returned from Maharashtra after selling merchandise and intended to travel to Indore to repay creditors.While he managed to escape safely with his wife and daughter, most of the cash was consumed by the flames.Firefighting teams from Dewas and Sonkatch brought the blaze under control after a two-hour operation. The fire also caused minor damage to a nearby Khatu Shyam temple. While no casualties were reported, the families residing in the huts lost most of their household belongings.The reason behind the fire is yet to be ascertained.
