Fire breaks out at scrap warehouse in Narwwal area
Indore: A fire broke out at a scrap warehouse in Narwal area on Sanwer Road in Indore on Sunday morning, triggering panic in the locality as thick black smoke engulfed the surroundings. Three fire tenders were rushed to the spot after the blaze was reported around 11 am and firefighting operations were launched immediately.Officials said the presence of plastic scrap inside the warehouse intensified the fire and led to dense smoke spreading across nearby residential pockets. The situation raised concerns as labourer quarters located close to the warehouse were at risk, prompting residents to move out belongings as a precaution.Fire teams worked from multiple sides, including the direction of the quarters, to prevent the flames from spreading further. Around 10 water tankers were used to control the blaze.Two to three women experienced breathing discomfort due to the smoke, but their condition later stabilised.Fire brigade SI Shivnarayan Sharma said the warehouse belongs to Mohammad Irfan and some workers who stay there were safely evacuated. The godown was locked at the time of the incident and the exact cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained. Officials confirmed that the fire was brought under control.
