Eid-al-Azha celebrations fill air with joy and devotion
Indore: Festive fervour filled the city’s air on Thursday as Muslims celebrated Eid-al-Azha (Bakrid). On the occasion, devotees showcased their unwavering faith by offering namaz even in the rain.Special namaz was offered in mosques across the city. Thousands stood united seeking blessings and greeting each other. Children, donned in colourful traditional outfits, gleefully exchanged gifts. The city mosques, adorned with vibrant decorations, symbolized the spirit of the festival. The Dawoodi Bohra community in the city celebrated Eid on Wednesday wherein prayers were offered at various mosques of the community. Shehar Qazi Dr Ishrat Ali said, “It is the first time I saw people offering namaz in such a huge number braving the rain. Despite the inclement weather, the devotion and dedication displayed by the community today is truly inspiring. I have urged the community members, especially the youngsters, to not indulge in any kind of intoxication. I have also appealed people to maintain peace and harmony.”As the rain continued to pour, household celebrations commenced, undeterred by the weather. Families warmly welcomed guests in their homes. The aroma of freshly cooked delicacies filled every corner, creating an atmosphere of devotion and delight. The dining tables were adorned with an array of flavours, enticing everyone to indulge in the culinary delights including biryani, kebabs, and sweet treats like sheer khurma. A resident, Ayesha Khan said, “Eid-al-Azha is a time of unity and gratitude. It’s a blessing to be able to come together as a community and celebrate this festival with our loved ones. My mother has prepared special mutton biryani and we have many relatives coming over for dinner.”
