Mhow: An outsourced discom worker was electrocuted during maintenance work at the 33 kV power substation at Susari village of Kukshi tehsil in Dhar on Sunday morning. The incident triggered anger among local residents, who alleged serious negligence by the discom authorities.
Kukshi police station in-charge Rajesh Yadav said, "The deceased was identified as Rahul, 29, a resident of Susari village. He worked as an outsourced employee with the discom. The company issued a notice on Saturday through social media informing consumers that the power supply in Kukshi town would remain suspended from 7am to 11 am on Sunday due to scheduled maintenance work at the 33 KV substation in Susari. But, the incident occurred at around 8.15 am on Sunday when Rahul climbed the transformer during maintenance work and came into contact with live current, resulting in his on-the-spot death.
"
Following the incident, tension prevailed in the village as residents gathered and expressed strong resentment, alleging that the power supply was not properly shut down during the maintenance operation. They termed the incident a case of grave negligence.
