Daly College gets new governing board

Indore: After weeks of nominations, internal discussions and election, Daly College has finally formed its new board of governors, with the state govt appointing two representatives on Friday to fill the remaining vacancies in the 10-member body.

The govt nominated retired High Court judge Justice Subhash Rao Kakade and additional advocate general Rahul Sethi as its representatives on the board, formally completing the institution’s new governing structure. Their appointment is being seen as significant given their administrative and legal backgrounds.

The board formation comes at a crucial time for the institution, which had witnessed months of uncertainty and debate surrounding its governance structure and administrative functioning. Senior members associated with the institution said that the completion of the board was expected to bring greater stability and continuity to decision-making.

Earlier this week, elections for donor-category seats were concluded. In the Old Donor category, Vikram Sinh Puar and Priyavrat Singh Khichi were elected unopposed. In the New Donor category, Harpal Singh Bhatia emerged victorious after defeating Rajesh Agrawal in a closely watched contest.

The Old Dalians Association (ODA) has also secured representation on the board. ODA vice-president Navneet Bagdi and media in-charge Nilesh Agrawal have been inducted as members, while Nipun Agrawal has been nominated under the ‘special recognition’ category.

From the parents’ association, Karan Narsariya and Sanjay Pahwa have been included as representatives.

Under the revised constitution of the Daly College Society, the board of governors will have 10 members in total. Members linked to the institution said that the newly constituted board was expected to focus on strengthening academics, discipline, student development and the institution’s long-standing legacy.

Several old Dalians described the development as an important step towards restoring administrative clarity and institutional stability at the school.
