Indore Municipal Corporation

(

IMC

) will deploy

drones

“Three drones with capacity of 20 litre each will be used for spraying liquid

disinfectant

to kill viruses. These drones can cover around 10km in about half an hour,” IMC commissioner

Asheesh Singh

told TOI.

Leaving nothing to chance, civic body has decided to up the cleanliness and sanitation standards of Indore. The IMC chief said that they have decided to use a combination of biological and chemical sanitisers, which will be dispersed over selected areas with the help of drones.

The commissioner claimed that the disinfectant is made of biological sanitiser and it will not have any harmful effect on citizens.

“Misting would be carried out twice a day — morning and evening — in selected areas like railway station, vegetable markets like Choithram Mandi and major junctions like Vijay Nagar, Palasia, Rajwada etc.” he added.

Singh said that these drones can be an effective and much faster tool for delivering public hygiene as compared to conventional methods for spraying disinfectant like handheld or vehicle mounted sprayers.

“A similar method is being used by China for dispersing disinfectant over its cities and villages to restrict spread of coronavirus,” he claimed adding that number of drones will be increased if needed.
