Chandigarh youth drowns in waterfall near Mhow
Mhow: A youth died after drowning in Bamaniyakund on Monday afternoon. A resident of Chandigarh, he went to the picnic spot with his sister and friends when the incident happened.Badgonda police station in-charge Prakash Waskale told media persons, "Mayank Dubey, son of Anil Dubey, 22, a resident of Chandigarh, went to the scenic Bamaniyakund, situated about 15 kilometres from Mhow town, with his sister and a friend, Abhishek, for a picnic. Just after reaching Bamaniyakund, Mayank descended into the water and started bathing in the water-filled pond while his sister and Abhishek sat outside. As per the statement of his sister, while bathing, Mayank slipped into deep water, and when he realised the danger, he started shouting for help. His sister and Abhishek were not swimmers, so they raised an alarm for help, but due to warm weather, there were no picnickers at the spot at the time of the incident. Some cattle grazers rushed for help, but by the time they took him out of the water, he lost consciousness. He was immediately taken to Mhow civil hospital, where the duty Doctor declared him brought dead.
The body will be handed over to his family members after an autopsy is done in the morning."

Bamaniyakund is very infamous after Patalpani waterfall for such deaths, and, looking at this, the local administration closed the approach road for Bamaniyakund and another adjoining waterfall, Mehndikund, for a long time. The approach was barricaded, but the locals recently removed it to go to the forest with animals and for firewood.
