Ujjain: A swarm of bees attacked a group of poets and their family members at Cactus Garden in Sailana town in Ratlam district on Saturday, leaving over six persons injured. All the injured were taken to Sailana community health centre, where they received primary treatment before being discharged.
The poets from Indore, Sanawad, and other places, had stopped at the garden after attending a kavya goshthi (poetry gathering), organised under Premchand Srijan Peeth in Ratlam when the bees attacked.
According to Sailana community health centre block medical officer Dr Shailendra Dange, those treated for bee stings included Rekha, (59), a resident of Indore; Sagar, (26), Indore; Karulal, (52), Jaora; Jayashree, (65), Indore; and Shishir, (68), Indore. Deepak Pagare from Sanawad and Praveen Atre were also treated, though their injuries were minor. All patients were discharged once their condition stabilised.
"The bees attacked while we were walking through the garden," Atre said.
