Indore: More than 90,000 students secured admissions in the first round of undergraduate (UG) and postgraduate (PG) admissions conducted by the Department of Higher Education (DHE), Madhya Pradesh.
According to official figures, a total of 90,590 students confirmed admissions in colleges across Madhya Pradesh till the first-round deadline on May 26. Of these, 72,998 students secured admissions in undergraduate courses, while 17,592 candidates confirmed seats in various postgraduate programmes offered by govt and private colleges across the state.
A total of 1,32,198 students were allotted colleges across government and private institutions in Madhya Pradesh during the first round of centralized online counseling. This included 1,07,075 students at the undergraduate level and 25,123 students in postgraduate programmes.
Following completion of the first-round of online admission counseling, DHE has now opened registrations for the second round of counselling till June 3. Students have been given time till June 3 to complete fresh registrations and make changes in their choice filling.
DHE OSD admissions, Tulsiram Dahayat said the second round is expected to witness tougher competition, especially with a large number of CBSE students now joining the admission process after declaration of their board results. The allotment list for the second round will be released on June 7, and selected candidates will have to confirm admissions by paying fees before June 13.
Students who are dissatisfied with their allotted colleges in the first round can also participate in the second round after cancelling their allotment through kiosk centres and submitting revised choice filling online. Academic experts believe the additional registration window will benefit thousands of students who could not complete the process earlier.
Meanwhile, the department has also announced that the third phase of admissions will be conducted through College Level Counselling (CLC). Registrations for CLC will begin from June 8 and continue till June 19. Colleges will release merit lists on June 23, while selected candidates will have to deposit fees by June 30.
Officials added that students seeking a change in faculty or major-minor subjects for UG and PG admissions can obtain eligibility certificates by appearing for a short interview at designated lead colleges in their respective districts. The facility will remain available throughout the admission process.
“More than 90,000 students have confirmed admissions in the first round, and the response to the counselling process has been encouraging. Students are actively participating in the second round as well, and we expect the admission numbers to increase further in the coming weeks,”
