Indore: Power supply from 11 kV lines across 16 feeders will be temporarily suspended at various intervals in the city on Sunday in view of traditional Rangpanchami Gair procession.
Madhya Pradesh Paschim Kshetra Vidyut Vitaran Company has finalised a comprehensive electrical safety plan in anticipation of the procession. City superintending engineer DK Gathe said that high-pressure water cannons and fire-fighters were expected to spray colour up to 150 feet in the air. So, as a precautionary measure, power supply from 11 kV lines across 16 feeders will be temporarily suspended.

He said that the city's power infrastructure along the route is being secured to prevent accidents during the massive street celebrations.
Cables and wires have been raised to safe heights and damaged transformer boxes along the route have been replaced. A temporary electrical control room will be operational at Subhash Chowk zone. A specialised team of 60 personnel, including 14 engineers, will be stationed at various grids and transformers from Tory Corner to Rajwada and Krishnapura.
The electricity department conducted a joint inspection with the district administration and police to identify potential hazards. The officials confirmed that staff would remain on-site throughout the event to manage the high-voltage and low-voltage lines, ensuring that power is restored immediately after the procession passes safely.
