12 special patrolling teams deployed to curb illegal parking and ease traffic
Indore: Twelve special patrolling teams have been deployed across the city to tackle illegal parking and ease traffic congestion by monitoring busy roads and taking action against violators."The move comes as part of a renewed drive to streamline traffic management and ensure smoother movement of vehicles," said DCP (traffic) Rajesh Kumar Tripathi. He said the teams will continuously patrol major routes, crowded markets and other high-pressure traffic points where haphazard parking often disrupts vehicle movement. Their primary task will be to identify vehicles parked illegally or obstructing traffic and initiate action against the drivers."The system includes four dedicated patrolling teams and eight backup wheel-lock teams operating across the city's four traffic zones. Each zone will have two wheel-lock or patrolling units consisting of four personnel each. The teams will keep a constant watch on traffic conditions and act against motorists violating rules," he said. The teams are equipped with public address systems, body-worn cameras, cranes or support vehicles, wheel-lock devices and POS machines to issue challans on the spot.
Vehicles parked on roadsides, footpaths or in no-parking zones that cause obstruction will face immediate action.During a review meeting held on Saturday, Tripathi assessed the functioning of patrolling and wheel-lock teams in the presence of additional DCP, ACPs and traffic station in-charges. Officials were instructed to ensure strict enforcement of parking rules and maintain a visible presence on busy stretches. Traffic personnel said drivers are first advised and warned to follow parking rules, but repeated violations lead to wheel-locking or towing through cranes, followed by challans. Authorities are also using PA systems to urge citizens to follow traffic rules and use designated parking spaces.Police officials said continuous enforcement already improved traffic flow in several areas, providing relief to commuters. The campaign will continue in the coming days with intensified patrolling and strict action in different parts of the city to keep traffic movement smooth and organised.
