The Manipur State Commission for Women (MSCW) has begun its own inquiry into the brutal murder of a woman and her pregnant daughter at their Uripok residence here even as a local pressure group has set a Friday deadline for the state government to pull up the perpetrators.

IMPHAL: The Manipur State Commission for Women (MSCW) has begun its own inquiry into the brutal murder of a woman and her pregnant daughter at their Uripok residence here even as a local pressure group has set a Friday deadline for the state government to pull up the perpetrators.
Lakhipriya (61) and her daughter Soram Monika (30) were found murdered, their throats slit, at their Uripok Bachaspati Leikai residence on Tuesday evening.

Soram was eight-months pregnant. "We have taken up a suo motu case on this brutal murder and begun our probe into it ," MSCW chairperson K Sobita Devi told TOI on Thursday.
Forensic experts have carried out further inquest to gather clues. Postmortem of the two bodies was conducted on Wednesday afternoon at RIMS mortuary here in the presence of a duty magistrate. The bereaved family as well as the pressure group have not claimed the bodies as a token of protest.
