Manipur gets its best ever HS exam results

Results of the High School Leaving Examination (HSLC) conducted by the Board of Secondary Education Manipur (BSEM) were declared on Saturday, with a 74.69 pass percentage, the highest-ever figure in the history the state.

IMPHAL: Results of the High School Leaving Examination (HSLC) conducted by the Board of Secondary Education Manipur (BSEM) were declared on Saturday, with a 74.69 pass percentage, the highest-ever figure in the history the state. Since 2007, the average pass percentage has been around 50 till it jumped up to 73.18% last year. At 21 %, the pass percentage was the lowest in 2002.

Imphal resident Bhumika Shamurailatpam, a student of Pitambara English School at Kwakeithel, topped the examinations.
This time, government schools have performed better, with Sorokhaibam Budhachandra Meitei of Charangpat High School in Thoubal district coming 22nd in the examination. All 74 students of Moirangpurel High school in Imphal East have cleared the examinations.
Education minister Th Radheshyam Singh gave the credit for this year's remarkable performance to BSEM officials, teachers, student bodies of the state and parents and guardians.
Chief minister N Biren Singh, while congratulating the rank-holders, thanked the parents and teachers, saying that their relentless efforts have helped the students achieve such great heights. Conveying his best wishes to the successful students for their future endeavours, Biren also lauded BSEM officers and staff for the timely declaration of the results of the examination, said a statement issued by the CM's secretariat.
Biren appealed to those students who could not clear the exam not to lose heart and urged them to work harder with renewed dedication so that they may realize their full potential in the near future.
