HYDERABAD: Saying that the Centre will continue to observe September 17 as the liberation day, Union home minister Amit Shah on Saturday said that those who did not want to call it Liberation Day should remember that they were in power because martyrs sacrificed their lives.
Speaking from Parade Grounds on the occasion of observation of the Liberation Day, the Union home minister said, "Some people do not even want to call it Hyderabad day, but they are enjoying the power, because of sacrifices, they forgot the very purpose of the state creation".
The home minister without naming the ruling TRS said whether someone observed September 17 as Liberation Day or not but Prime Minister Narendra Modi had taken a decision to officially observe it as Liberation and would continue to observe with a chest full of pride.
“There will be year-long celebrations,” he added.
