WikiLeaks: Obama's aide was keen to know about Lokesh

Hyderabad: The controversial meeting of Telugu Desam Party general secretary Nara Lokesh with US President Barak Obama at a fund-raising ceremony in the USA in May last year had caught the attention of Democratic Party leaders too.

The latest release by the WikiLeaks refers to Lokesh in the emails exchanged between Obama's special assistant Bobby Schmuck and leaders of the Democratic Party.

The emails are part of the WikiLeaks' latest sensation on Democratic Party presidential candidate Hillary Clinton. Nearly 20,000 emails were leaked, suspecting a coup to defeat her rival Bernie Sanders in the party as the presidential candidate.

The emails were exchanged between January 2015 and May 2016. The Democratic National Committee leaders received emails from Schmuck enquiring about Lokesh, his background and citizenship.

An NDC leader replied saying "I got one name hit in Lexis and there is no voter record". Schmuck while sending the information to NDC leaders about Lokesh on Wikipedia asked them whether any of them have met him.

However, when NDC leaders did not come up with answers, Schmuck sent a mail again enquiring if Lokesh has the "green card or some type of visa and if so what kind".

After this, there was no mention of Lokesh in the emails released by WikiLeaks. It appears that the American leaders were confused about the nationality of Lokesh.

14. The much-hyped meeting also turned controversial back home in Andhra Pradesh, with the opposition accusing Lokesh of meeting the US President without holding an official position.
