Water tanker crushes techie to death

HYDERABAD: A 26-year-old software employee died in a road accident in S R Nagar on Tuesday. His friend sustained minor injuries.
According to the S R Nagar police, Srikanth Gangadhar, son of Vasudev Murthy, a native of Vijayawada and residing at Motinagar, was working as systems analyst with Sonata Software in Begumpet.
On Tuesday at about 10.30 am, Srikanth along with his roommate Satish Kumar started off for his office on his bike.
His bike skidded at SR Nagar community hall when he tried to overtake an auto, SR Nagar sub-inspector R Govinda Reddy said. A water tanker (AP 10 E 6822), which was coming right behind the bike, crushed Srikanth to death when he fell off it. His friend Satish Kumar escaped with minor injuries.
"The driver of the water tanker is absconding. We seized the vehicle and registered a case under section 304-A (Causing death due to rash or negligent act) against the driver," the SI added.
