HYDERABAD: The body of software engineer T Vikram Kumar Reddy, who died in the US, arrived in the city on Saturday morning. But the real cause of his death remains a mystery.
Vikram Reddy's body was found in the Spanish lake park in the US and much as the family hoped that the mystery over his death would be unravelled, they have now only more questions than ever before.
The shocker came in the form of the police certificate which said the cause of the death was 'not known'.
With the St Louis County police being on record that it was not known how Vikram Reddy died, several questions now arise as to what exactly happened on that fateful day.
Moreover, the family in Hyderabad was also not sent the post-mortem report to at least be able to come to some conclusion about the cause of the death. The mystery over Vikram Kumar Reddy's death will take sometime to get unravelled as the family here intends to pursue it with the US police.
According to reports, Vikram Reddy died along with his cousin T Soumya Reddy at Sunfish lake boat ramp close to Spanish lake park on September 14. First, Soumya Reddy's body was found in the car by morning joggers. There were bullet wounds on the bodies of both the cousins. The family had no clue as to what had happened. Vikram Reddy and his sister had been reportedly shot dead by African-Americans. FBI officers have also started investigations into the incident.
"When the US police said that there were bullet wounds on the body immediately after it was retrieved from the lake, how can they say the cause of death is not known," asked K Shyamsunder Reddy, brother-in-law of Vikram Reddy while speaking to 'STOI'.
"We do not know the reasons for not sending post-mortem report along with the death certificate. We want to know reasons for the death and the real culprits should be booked. We will try to contact the investigating officials," he said.
As the body was in a decomposed state, the family members cremated it at the Bansilalpet electric crematorium in the afternoon.
