HYDERABAD: A PhD scholar Dipika Mahapatra from the
University of Hyderabad
(UoH) died in the hostel bathroom after suffering an
epileptic seizure
on Monday morning.
According to students, 28-year-old Dipika went to the bathroom at around 8am. When she did not open the bathroom door till 8.30am, the students got suspicious and started knocking the door. With no response from Mahapatra, the students broke the door open.
“She was found in an unconscious state in the hostel bathroom. Her friends rushed her to the university healthcare centre. Subsequently, she was taken to
Citizen Hospital in Nallagandla
where she was declared brought dead,” said Abhishek Nandan, a PhD scholar at the Hindi department where Dipika was pursuing her research. Later, her body was shifted to Osmania General Hospital where autopsy report is awaited. Police said that Dipika had been diagnosed with a neurological disease and had undergone treatment for the same in the past.
