Telangana man dies by suicide; wife, in-laws, woman cop booked for harassment

HYDERABAD: A records assistant, K Sravan Kumar, who attempted suicide in Karimnagar allegedly due to the harassment by his wife, in-laws and inspector of women police station, died while undergoing treatment on Sunday.Police said they registered a criminal case against the women police station inspector, Srilatha, Sravan's wife Neelima and her parents on charges of abetment to suicide at the Chouppadandi police station.While attempting suicide, the victim released a selfie video in which he accused his wife, her family and the inspector of harassing him.About a month ago, Neelima had filed a complaint against Sravan, accusing him of domestic violence. Based on her complaint, a case was registered and Sravan was called in for questioning. Following the interrogation, he alleged that the police were harassing him at the behest of the complainant.However, senior Karimnagar police said that the woman inspector had only summoned him as part of an investigation.
