Telangana assembly elections 2018: Over 5,000 complaints of poll code violations, 3,700 addressed
HYDERABAD: Telangana CEO Dr Rajat Kumar on Monday said that action was taken on 3,703 complaints of Model Code of Conduct violations. “Out of 5,291 complaints we received on C-Vigil app, around 3,703 are genuine and action has been taken. A major chunk, 2,210 complaints, were related to pasting and displaying of posters or banners without permission. Of them, 1,829 were found to be correct and action was taken, while 284 others were dropped and 95 are kept pending at different levels, including that of Returning Officer.”
Kumar added that 188 complaints in all categories of MCC violations were pending redressal and also news channels are being monitored to check for MCC violations like paid news.
Out of 67 complaints against display of firearms and intimidation lodged, 19 were dropped, while 43 were found to be correct and action taken and five are kept pending. Also, 111 complaints were received alleging that gifts and coupons were distributed, of them 67 were dropped, while 44 were found to be correct and attended. As many as 112 complaints were received of liquor distribution, 182 of cash distribution and 43 of religious or communal speeches/messages.
Meanwhile the CEO office has received good response from students who came forward to participate in webcasting of polling process on the polling day. Joint CEO Amrapali Kata said over 9,500 students have responded to their calls.
