Hyderabad: A Tech Mahindra staffer and an Amazon employee were arrested by Chikkadpally police on Thursday for cheating Flipkart by stealing an iPhone 6 ordered by them and claiming that it was not delivered to them.
Chikkadpally additional inspector P Balavanthaiah said B Naveen, a Tech Mahindra employee, and Atul Sharma, an employee of Amazon, were arrested under the charge of cheating and theft.
In January 2015, according to police, a purchase order was placed with Flipkart in the name of B Naveen and a payment of Rs 51,000 was made from the credit card of Atul Sharma. After the parcel was received, they informed Flipkart that phone was missing in the parcel and only a rubber and white paper were there instead.
Flipkart authorities refunded the amount into the said account, from where the order was placed earlier.
During the audit, they found that the iPhone was in fact moved from the godown and it was being used by someone in Hyderabad.
A complaint was lodged at Chikkadpally police station by Flipkart and the phone was found to be in use by Atul's brother based on the IMEI number.
On investigation, it was found that the two stole the phone as they knew the nuances of e-commerce.
