HYDERABAD: The Telugu Association of North America (Tana) will organise `Chaitanya Sravanthi-2008' in the city on December 27.
Briefing the media here on Thursday, Tana president-elect and interim president Jayaram Komati said, "Gidugu Rama Murthy award will be presented to Ramesh Babu, who migrated from Andhra Pradesh and settled in Hosur of Karnakata, for his outstanding services rendered to Telugu language." He will be the fourth person to receive the award.
A citation and Rs 50,000 cash will be given to the awardee. The award presentation programme will be held at Ravindra Bharathi."
Tana would honour Chukka Sattaiah, a native of Janagaon of Warangal district and an `Oggu katha' artist, for his services to the art form. A citation and Rs 10,000 would be given to him, he said.
Tana secretary Thotakura Prasad said, "Sports competition in 16 events will be conducted to the physically challenged sportspersons on December 27.
On this occasion, The Young Mens' Happy Club, Kakinada will organise `Allasani Peddana,'a mythological drama written by Akella and directed by YSR Murthy at the same venue, he said.
Tana will celebrate its 2009 Conference at Donald Stephens convention Centre, Rosemont in Chicago from July 2 to 4, Tana secretary Thotakura Prasad said.
