HYDERABAD: The state BJP has appointed Tamilisai Soundararajan, former Telangana governor and South Chennai BJP candidate, to oversee the campaign in Hyderabad and Secunderabad parliament segments. Though a star campaigner, it was decided that she would concentrate mostly on these two segments.
The former Telangana governor was appointed in-charge of these parliament segments at the state party headquarters on Tuesday. According to party sources, she will stay in Hyderabad till the Telangana polls are completed. She arrived in Hyderabad on Sunday.
Notably, this is the first time a woman leader has been asked by the BJP to take charge of the Hyderabad parliament segment during any poll, even as K Madhavi Latha is the first woman candidate for Hyderabad. “AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi will have to take on two strong women,” said a party leader.
In Secunderabad, Union minister G Kishan Reddy is the candidate. He in the past worked as Tamil Nadu BJP affairs-in-charge.
