Startup run to raise funds for girl edu

Hyderabad: To create awareness and raise funds for education and welfare of girl child and women, a

startup marathon

was organized on Sunday by the Startup Leadership Program (SLP) in association with Nayi Disha, an NGO. Touted to be the largest startup marathon, as well as the largest mass participation startup event in India, the annual startup marathon started from IIIT-Hyderabad.

Uma Devi Chigurupati, marathoner and executive director of Granules India said running is a wholesome physical exercise for the body. “Running at least for five days a week can make a tremendous difference to ones physical and mental health. However, I would like to tell the beginners to start with lesser distance and improve on it gradually over time,” she said.

Para-cyclist Dharmana Shanamukha Rao advised youth to avoid reckless driving on the roads and follow traffic rules for everyone's safety. “At least for the family’s sake we should try and reach the destination safely,” he said.

Budding entrepreneurs, outstanding founders, innovators and students took part in large numbers in the run.

SLP is a highly selective, global, world-class training program and lifelong global network for outstanding founders, leaders and innovators who want to become startup CEOs. The program began in Boston in 2006 with seven fellows (participants). It has grown to 28 cities in 13 countries.
