Hyderabad: Doctors at a three-day international conference in Hyderabad on neuroendoscopy emphasised that skull base surgery needs very high precision, skill and constant learning because it involves operating close to important parts of the brain. The International Skull Base Endoscopy Summit 2.0, organised by Yashoda Hospitals, Secunderabad, from April 24 to April 26, brought together over 500 national and international experts in minimally invasive neurosurgery. The event served as a platform for surgeons, academicians and postgraduate students to exchange knowledge on advanced endoscopic techniques for treating brain tumours.Dr Ayyadurai, senior neurosurgeon, said that skull base surgery required the highest levels of precision, skill and continuous learning. "With rapid advancements in neuroendoscopy, surgeons must constantly upgrade their expertise to ensure safer and more effective outcomes," he added. The conference featured live surgeries, expert lectures and hands-on cadaveric workshops, enabling participants to gain practical exposure to complex procedures such as endoscopic endonasal skull base surgery and management of pituitary tumours.Dr Pavan Gorukanti, director, Yashoda Hospitals, said the initiative aimed at strengthening medical education and fostering innovation in neurosurgical practices.
