HYDERABAD: Armed with a production warrant of the Hyderabad criminal courts, a 5-member Special Investigation Team (SIT) has left for Mumbai to shift four accused persons involved in last years Lumbini Park blasts. Sources told TOI that the 12th additional chief metropolitan magistrate at Nampally criminal courts has issued the production warrant against Mohammed Akbar Ismael Chaudhry alias Saeed (26), Anique Shafiq Syed alias Khalid (27), Sadique Israr Ahmed Shaikh (33) and Ansar Ahmed Badhsah Shaikh (35), presently lodged at Arthur Road Jail, Mumbai.
On 21 Oct this year, the additional commissioner of police (crimes) Mumbai, Deven Bharti, had intimated the Hyderabad commissioner of police B Prasada Rao about the involvement of the four accused in last years twin blasts. The four arrested are among the 20 members of the Indian Mujahideen that were arrested by the Detection Crime Branch & Crime Investigation Department on October 10 for their involvement in a series of blasts across the country. Further, all the four arrested have been slapped with cases under the stringent Maharashtra Control of Organized Crime Act.
During their interrogation earlier, SIT sleuths found that it was Anique Shafiq Syed who had planted bomb at Lumbini Park while Mohammed Akbar Ismael Chaudhry planted a bomb near the foot-over bridge at Dilsukhnagar which did not explode. But Riyaz Bhatkal, son of the founder of IM had planted bomb at Gokul Chat Bhandar at Koti. Last month sleuths of Maharashtra brought Anique and reconstructed the crime scene at Lumbini Park.
