Second phase of Indiramma housing scheme in Telangana to be launched in April

Hyderabad: Housing minister Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy on Wednesday said in the council that the second phase of Indiramma housing will be launched in April and May in the state.Replying to questions in the council, the minister said the Indiramma housing programme would be a continuous initiative, with the govt planning to extend it every year to ensure housing for the poor."Govt's objective is to construct Indiramma houses in every urban ward over the next three years. About a lakh houses are expected to be completed by March, and a majority of the three lakh houses sanctioned in the first phase will be ready by June or July. Special focus is being given to urban housing, ensuring beneficiaries are allotted homes close to their existing locations to protect livelihoods," the minister said.He also disclosed that the govt was preparing a plan to complete pending and stalled housing projects, particularly in tribal and remote areas, with flexibility to modify houses based on beneficiaries' needs. "There will be no discrimination in selecting beneficiaries. Stringent action will be taken against those indulging in irregularities.Nearly 99% of pending bills have been cleared for the 2-BHK units, and a special 99-day drive was underway to complete unfinished houses and hand them over to eligible families," he said.The minister also announced that a new digital media policy would be introduced within the next two to three months.
