Recently Renu Desai had said that sometimes she felt that she needed a life partner. Pawan Kalyan's fans reacted sharply to that and urged that she should not lose their respect and hurt their feelings by getting married again.

Renu Desai was in a live-in relationship with Pawan Kalyan before he officially married her in 2009. This was because of a hue and cry raised against him by women's organisations.Since his brother Chiranjeevi floated his own political party, Pawan Kalyan, it appeared, gave in to the demand to officially marry Renu Desai so that he did not become an embarrassment to his brother. The couple had two children.

Sharing three responses of Pawan Kalyan's fans on FB, she pointed out at the `narrow-mindedness of men'. The fans had urged her not to remarry. Though she said the post was not about herself as such, she said it was her 'general thought about today's society and the mindset of men!' “In our country, it is acceptable if men marry any number of times. But when I said I felt I needed a life partner after having lived alone for seven years, it does not become acceptable. This is the kind of society we live in this country today ," Renu Desai said.

She said while there was so much talk about women's equality, empowerment, security and safety, she was getting hate messages.

“Women should raise their sons well so that they can bring about a change in the way men think. I hope the change does take place," she said.
