HYDERABAD: An assistant professor with ICFAI Foundation for Higher Education committed suicide by throwing himself in front of a train near James Street railway station on Saturday.
Before committing suicide, the professor left his former wife’s house along with their two sons. Though the suicide came to light on Saturday evening, the whereabouts of the two boys is yet to be known and special police teams are looking for them.

A Raghavendra Guruprasad, 44, an assistant professor at ICFAI Foundation for Higher Education located at Donthanapally in Shankarpally road of Hyderabad, had married Suhasini in 2004. Due to marital problems, the couple began staying separately in 2012 and got divorced in 2013. The couple has two sons, Vittal Virinchi, 9, and Nandu Vihari, 5. As per the directions of the court, Guruprasad takes his two sons out between 9 am and 1 pm on first Saturday of every month. Accordingly, on Saturday, Guruprasad went to Suhasini’s house at Anand Bagh and took both the boys with him. As he did not return by 1 pm, worried Suhasini began calling up her family members. At 4 pm, she got a call from the Secunderabad railway police informing that Guruprasad’s body was found on the railway track near James Street railway station.
“Guruprasad committed suicide by jumping in front of a train. A suicide note was found at his house in Alwal and he cited that bad marital life was the reason for his suicide. However, Guruprasad did not mention anything about his two sons in the note,” Malkajgiri inspector G Sekhar Goud said.
