Police yet to nab drug suppliers in Moinabad farmhouse case
Hyderabad: One and a half months after a raid at the farmhouse of BRS former MLA Pilot Rohit Reddy in Moinabad and the arrest of 11 accused in a drugs case, police are yet to nab any of the alleged peddlers who supplied cocaine and MDMA to the accused.According to the investigators, during the raid conducted late on March 14, six of the 11 accused, including Rohit Reddy, his brother Ritesh Reddy, their associates T Arjun Reddy, Kaushik Ravi, Namith Sharma and TDP MP P Mahesh Kumar, tested positive for drug consumption. Following their interrogation, investigators stated that the accused had consumed cocaine and MDMA.Police identified a Goa-based peddler, Clinton, as the supplier of MDMA. The contraband was allegedly procured from him by a city-based doctor, who then sent the MDMA pills to the accused through Athar, the driver of Kaushik Ravi. The SIT is yet to locate Clinton and Athar.Similarly, the 0.26 grams of cocaine seized at the party was allegedly supplied by absconding accused Rakesh Varma from Bahadurpura and his associate Abhishek Singh from Rajendranagar. According to the investigators, both are currently absconding.
A sessions court in LB Nagar dismissed their anticipatory bail pleas.Opposing the anticipatory bail petitions, the prosecution stated that the accused played a "crucial link in the supply chain of the narcotic substance and was instrumental in arranging procurement of cocaine." The duo has approached the high court seeking anticipatory bail, and their petitions are currently being heard. "Clinton, Athar, Abhishek and Rakesh are absconding. Our teams are still searching for them. Their interrogation is key in the case," said an official who is part of the probe.TDP MP Mahesh Kumar, who is also accused in the case, is yet to appear before the police for questioning. SIT officials said he had earlier sought time, citing health reasons and also to attend Parliament. Meanwhile, the high court granted bail to Rohit Reddy in the case on Tuesday. At present, only two of the accused, Ritesh Reddy and Namit Sharma, are in judicial remand at Chanchalguda prison.
