Police inspect 562 hotels in city under Operation Kavach
Hyderabad: City police conducted intensive checks at 562 hotels and lodges across the city as part of Operation Kavach on Friday night. Police commissioner VC Sajjanar personally supervised the drive and warned hotel managements against violating guest verification norms.
The operation, carried out between 11 pm and 1 am, involved nearly 5,000 police personnel. It was aimed at strengthening internal security and monitoring anti-social activities. Police teams inspected hotel registers, verified guest identity checks, and examined visitor records and rooms.
Sajjanar visited several lodges near Nampally railway station and in Ameerpet, where he reviewed room allocation procedures and interacted with guests regarding their place of origin and purpose of travel.
During the operation, police inspected 562 establishments, including 119 in Khairatabad, 92 in Shamshabad, 86 each in Jubilee Hills and Golconda, 82 in Secunderabad, 53 in Rajendranagar, and 44 in the Charminar zone.
The commissioner directed hotel and lodge operators to maintain proper guest records, verify original identity documents, accurately record check-in and check-out details, and ensure that rooms are not allotted to minors.
He also instructed managements to maintain functional CCTV cameras and alert the police about any suspicious activity. Sajjanar warned that strict legal action would be taken against establishments found violating the prescribed norms.
