Pan-India car stealing gang nabbed in Hyderabad

HYDERABAD: The case of stealing of

Volkswagen Vento car

in KPHB last week by diverting the attention of the owner was cracked by local police by nabbing a

Bidar gang

on Thursday. During the investigation, police came to know that this is a gang involved in stealing the cars across India. KPHB police said that the prime accused Vishal Raj was arrested in Bangalore, while his other associate Giriraj was nabbed in yellammabanda. Besides these two accused, two handlers- Mahesh and Shiva Kumar- who received the stolen vehicles were also arrested from Bidar.

, where Giriraj was residing by taking a house on rent. From his possession, a stolen

Honda Amaze

car was also recovered along with Vento.

It was on November 25, Vishal Raj approached a

Volkswagen Vento

car owner, Srikanth, on the pretext of purchasing it and stole the four-wheeler by diverting his attention. Earlier, Srikanth gave an advertisement in Olx about the sale of his 2014 model Vento. After stealing Vento car, Vishal gave its custody to his associate Giriraj.

The accused were nabbed based on the mobile phone number from which Srikanth was contacted by Vishal Raj at the time of visiting the victim to see the car. “We alerted Bangalore police, who nabbed Vishal. From his possession two more stolen cars were recovered. The cars recovered from Bangalore were stolen with the same modus operandi in Delhi and Bangalore. All the accused hails from Bidar in Karnataka. Both Vishal and Giriraj after stealing the cars in turn sell it to the arrested receivers at throw away price,” KPHB Inspector Ch Kushalkar told TOI.

Police said that Vishal by using his ability to speak fluent English introduces himself as a professional from a prominent company at the time of meeting the victims.
