HYDERABAD: A novel Golconda, written by Fatima Shahnaz, was released by chairman of the AP Cultural Council C Narayana Reddy on Sunday.
The novel describes the identity crisis faced by the last rulers of the Asif Jahi dynasty as Hyderabad was being integrated into India.
Golconda is woven around Nawab Sir Faris Jung Bahadur, a scion of the then ruling dynasty.

Tracing Faris’ trials during the “annexation’’ of Hyderabad, the author has attempted to convey the sense of an identity crisis that prevailed among the ruling elite here during the police action.
Narayana Reddy said Shahnaz has managed to convey the unique culture of Hyderabad in the novel.
