Nizam’s kin plead to retain library name

CHARMINAR: The Nizam’s family has urged authorities to withdraw plans of changing the name of the Osmania University library to Bharat Ratna BR Ambedkar Library.
Najaf Ali Khan, grandson and Mirza Mohib Baig, great grandson of Mir Osman Ali Khan, the last Nizam, made a last-ditch appeal to Governor ESL Narasimhan to direct the OU committee to withdraw its decision.
“It is deplorable that the unnecessary decision of changing the library’s name was taken without keeping the sentiments of the founder in mind.I appreciate that the Bharat Ratna BR Ambedkar Research Center is being opened, but it is appalling and hurtful that they want to tamper with a historic symbol,” Najaf Ali Khan, said.
