HYDERABAD: A 42-year-old man was allegedly stabbed to death by his brother-in-law at their relative’s house in Trimulgherry on Sunday. The victim was identified as Jnaneswar, a social worker from RTC colony in Trimulgherry. A month ago, Jnansewar eloped with his relative, an 18-year-old girl, and married her at a temple in Alwal a month ago.
The girl’s family members, who were against the marriage, approached the Alwal police.
Police summoned both the parties and forced them to reach an agreement. Since then, Jnaneswar and his wife were staying separately with their respective families, Trimulgherry SI K Dasarath Ram Reddy said.
On Sunday, the girl’s aunt Kamalamma, who stays at Peda Kabela, called Jnaneswar to discuss about the marriage. When Jnaneswar reached her house at 1.30 pm, Kamalamma, her daughter Andaalu and the girl’s brother Anil were present there. “A heated argument ensued between Jnaneswar and the others when the girl’s family asked him to forget about the marriage. In a fit of rage, Anil stabbed Jnaneswar with a kitchen knife on the chest and neck. With critical injuries, Jnaneswar died on the spot and the trio surrendered before police,” the SI said.
