Hyderabad: An associate of slain gangster Nayeem lodged a complaint with the Kushaiguda police, alleging that an acquaintance attempted to kill him at a hotel in Kushaiguda on Friday.
According to the police, the complainant, Pasham Srinivas (53), a native of Bhongir, was a close associate of Nayeem. Srinivas, who has criminal cases pending against him, has been staying at his aunt's house in Satyanarayana Colony of Safilguda for the past three years. He told police officials that he went to a hotel near Radhika X Roads in Kushaiguda for lunch at around 3 pm on April 24, along with his lawyers, a friend, G Rahul, and his brother, M Swami.
At around 4 pm, Md Khaja, also from Bhongir, arrived at the hotel carrying a plastic bag. Srinivas knew Khaja from their time in jail in connection with a case in 2014.
Growing suspicious of Khaja's behaviour, Swami checked the bag and found two knives inside. They tried to restrain Khaja, but he managed to escape. Kushaiguda inspector L Bhaskar Reddy said a case has been registered against Khaja, and that a manhunt was on to nab him.
