HYDERABAD: Noted exhibitor Narayan Das K Narang was unanimously elected president of
Telugu Film Chamber of Commerce
on Saturday. The post was reserved for the exhibitors’ sector this election.

Das has financed over 600 films and is the promoter of Asian Films. The executive committee election was closely contested by two main groups – Active Producer’s Panel led by producer Dil Raju and Mana Panel led by C Kalyan, Natti Kumar and Prasanna Kumar.
Twelve from Dil Raju’s team including himself made it to the committee, but Mana Panel performed better, bagging 32 of the total 44.
Office-bearers are elected by the 44 executive committee members. In the election, Dil Raju was elected as vice-president; Damodar Prasad, secretary; and Natti Kumar and Bharat Choudhry, joint secretaries. M Vijendar Reddy was elected treasurer. Natti Kumar told TOI that the office-bearers would take charge on Sunday.
“The way the film industry functions needs to change. Small film producers should be helped and this is what we will strive for,” Natti Kumar said. A few proposals will be discussed when the executive committee holds its first meeting. Representatives from producers, exhibitors, distributors and studio sectors. were elected to the executive committee.
