HYDERABAD: In a joint operation, the Commissioner’s Task Force west zone team and the Nampally railway police solved the mystery behind the murders of two persons, one last year and another last month, by arresting four persons on Saturday.
The team which was on the lookout for the killers of S Vishnu Murthy, 35, of Allapur village in Rangareddy district, whose body was found on the railway tracks near the village last month, nabbed the suspects - P Raju, Mohammed Feroz, P Vijay Kumar and A Srinivas, all residents of Allapur.
During interrogation, the accused spilled the beans. According to the accused, Raju had developed an extra-marital affair with a woman of the same locality. Vishnu Murthy was the former paramour of the woman and Raju’s affair irked him. He tried to end the affair between them.
Raju decided to eliminate Vishnu Murthy and hatched a plan to kill him. He and his associates waylaid Vishnu Murthy near Gayatrinagar bridge and whisked him away to the hillock near Tulsinagar and killed him using hunting sickles. Later the body was abandoned on the railway tracks near Vivekanandanagar in Allapur.
The postmortem report indicated a murder which prompted the Nampally railway police to take the help of the task force and solve the case.
Incidentally, one of the accused, Srinivas, confessed to having committed another murder at Madhapur in August last year. Police said Srinivas and his four associates strangled an unidentified man for resisting a robbery attempt. The Madhapur police had no leads in the case until Srinivas confessed to the murder.
The cases were detected by the task force west zone team headed by inspector M S Venugopal Rao and sub-inspectors V Shyambabu, Suryachander Rao, N L N Raju and M Sudhakar.
