Muslim clerics demand anti-lynching law

: Concerned over the increasing cases of mob lynchings across the country,

of Old City demanded that the Centre and state governments formulate an anti-lynching law immediately. A meeting headed by Maulana Mohammed Husamuddin Sani Jafar Pasha was held in Old City where the clerics met and condemned incidents of lynching.

comprising of 7 panellists to maintain peace. Addressing a press conference, Pasha said the board was formed to deal with ‘troublemakers who disrupt peace’. “Naturally, everyone wants to live in a peaceful atmosphere, but it seems that some antisocial elements want to reap benefits by creating unrest in the society. In the wake of the present scenario, we met with an intention to raise our voice against mob lynchings,” Pasha asserted.

He said that divide and rule policy is being adopted in the country for personal, political and religious gains.

It it is important that Muslims raise their voices against the lynchings,” said Maulana Sayeed Quadri, president, Qadria International Organisation.
