MJ Akbar appointed to Andhra Pradesh Wakf Board

HYDERABAD: In an unusual move, the Minorities Welfare Department (MWD) appointed MJ Akbar at the helm of affairs at the AP State Wakf Board as “competent authority”. A government order to this effect was released on Tuesday.
What is interesting to note is that recently, the high court granted interim stay on Akbar’s appointment as special officer.
Justice C Kodandaram was dealing with a writ petition filed by Mahboob Alam Khan.
MWD special secretary Syed Omar Jaleel remained unavailable for comment.
