Hyderabad: Minors force-fed dog food, thrashed for ‘stealing’ pup

HYDERABAD: Eight boys who adopted what they thought was a stray three-month-old Labarador pup were savagely beaten by the

kennel

owners of the animal on the charge that they had stolen it. The incident happened on January 27.


Of the eight boys, four are minors and all of them suffered bleeding injuries. According to the FIR registered by police based on the complaint filed by the father of one of the victims, the boys were beaten repeatedly with belts and sticks amidst a barrage of verbal abuse.

the boys while sipping beer,” Bangari Sampath, father of 16-year-old Veera Venkata Tilak, told TOI.

As if this is not enough, Labaradors and German Shepherds were let loose while the men rejoiced the sight of the boys frozen in fear, Sampath said. “This is what happens if you steal a pup,” the men are alleged to have warned the victims while the beating continued for some more time. Of the 10 accused, four have been arrested and sent to judicial custody and the remaining are absconding.

It all started when 15-year-old Vamshi found a playful three-month-old Labrador pup wandering in Lakshmi Nagar Colony in Boduppal. The boy took the pup home oblivious of the consequences that were to follow. Subsequently, his friends kept the pup at their respective homes for next four days. After coming to know of the whereabouts of the pup, the kennel owners took the eight boys to the kennel and gave them a thrashing. Some of the boys were taken to a nearby hospital in Boduppal for first-aid.

One of the victims received a minor injury to his eye while the knee of another was left bleeding. Apart from Veera Venkata Tilak, the victims were Vamshi, Kiran, Kishore, Varun, Suchit and Rambrahma Chary.
