HYDERABAD: Not just the Begum Bazar case has ties to the multi-crore fake stamp scam kingpin Abdul Karim Telgi.
But the accused in the cases registered at the Chandrayanagutta and Nampally police stations too appear to have links with Telgi and his gang.
The Chandrayanagutta police had arrested Syed Hussain and his brother Syed Anwar Hussain in December last year for circulating fake stamp papers having denominations of Rs 5,000, Rs 1,000 and Rs 500.
Later, the Nampally police too arrested Syed Anwar Hussain on similar charges.
It was only then the police suspected that there was more to these arrests. During interrogation, Syed Anwar Hussain revealed the name of Balaram Singh, a resident of Patna who used to send fake stamp papers by courier service.
A police team comprising the officers of the two police stations went to Patna and arrested, Balaram Singh a couple of months ago, who disclosed the name of supplier Sanjay Kumar of Bihar.
A city police team went to Bihar last week looking for Sanjay Kumar, who is suspected to have direct links with the Telgi gang. However, the police could not find him.
Meanwhile, a police officer from Bihar who is in city on a personal visit made enquiries with the Nampally police seeking some inputs about the fake stamps case as the Bihar police too busted a similar racket recently in which eight accused were arrested.
The city police said the cases were still under investigation and the link between Telgi and these cases could be confirmed only after the arrest of Sanjay Kumar.
