When Prime Minister Modi and Ivanka Trump make their entry at the Global Entrepreneurship Summit at Hyderabad on Tuesday, they will be greeted by Mitra, an indigenous bot by Bengaluru based Invento. Balaji Viswanathan and his 14 member team are deploying two bots at the event, one that will be on the dais and will converse with the dignitaries and another that will interact with the audience. “The GES is an ideal forum for us to display our ‘Made in India’ robot. Given the high profile dignitaries and the tight security, Mitra will have limited interaction on the dais. When the PM and Ivanka Trump come on to the stage, Mitra will move towards them and have a conversation. They can then press a button which will prompt Mitra to sing that the summit has been declared open,” said Viswanathan.

Trained to process over 1000-1500 different phrases, the second robot that will be outside the main arena will be available for others to interact with. From a casual question like ‘How are you’ to more serious ones like ‘What do you think of Elon Musk’, Invento is looking forward to Mitra engaging with the audience at Hyderabad.

Mitra 1.

Made of fibre glass, the current version of Mitra is a modification to Mitra 1 which has been deployed at several corporate events and family functions till date. Barring the chips that are imported, all other parts are sourced domestically.

“Mitra will travel around the arena and uses facial and voice recognition to know when someone is talking to it. If you are siding by the side, then you need to press a button to alert Mitra. The beauty of Mitra is that it does not need a trigger word like Alexa or Siri,” said Viswanathan.
