Lok Sabha elections: Security beefed up for Revanth Reddy in Hyderabad
HYDERABAD: Security for Telangana Congress working president A Revanth Reddy, who is contesting from Malkajgiri Lok Sabha constituency, has been beefed up following increased threat perception to him.
Stating this here on Monday, additional director general of police (law and order) Jitender said the Congress leader had also made a representation seeking police security.

“Security has been beefed up for Revanth. Taking into consideration factors like eligibility, threat perception and previous instances of litigation, his security has been enhanced,’’ Jitender said at a press conference. As the campaign is set to intensify in the coming days, police are bracing themselves to provide heightened security cover for national leaders and VIPs.
On the question of filing a case against Jana Sena chief Pawan Kalyan for his comments that insecurity is prevailing in Telangana among people of Seemandhra region, Jitender said they did not receive any specific complaint on the issue. He said that social media is continuously being monitored by cops.
Till now, Rs 7.22 crore has been seized across the state and 195 cases of violation of model code of conduct were registered till now. On the cases registered during the December assembly elections, he said accused were given penal punishment in 123 cases, while 1,000 cases are still being investigated.
Asked about threat from left-wing extremists in some districts having borders with Chhattisgarh and Maharashtra, he said tight security is in place.
