Hyderabad: Two persons have been sentence to life imprisonment and another to five years in jail in connection with a farmer's murder in Ibrahimpatnam in Jagtial district in Jan 2022.
Additional sessions judge, Jagtial, Sugali Narayana pronounced the convicts — Kasa Sanjeev, Thaidapally Rajinikanth and Mangalarapu Laxmi Narayana — guilty of brutally killing Chedalu Rajender. While the judge imposed a fine of Rs 10,000 each on Sanjeev and Rajinikanth, Narayana was slapped with Rs 5,000 fine.
Police said on the day of the murder two years ago, Rajender was in his field when the accused attacked him and stabbed him repeatedly, killing him on the spot. Rajender's wife Latha, who was in the vicinity, rushed to his rescue upon hearing him cry for help, but due to deep stab injuries, he died on the spot.
Sanjeev and Rajender had their fields side by side, which led to a long-standing dispute. As Rajender did not allow a portion of his land for Sanjeev to have a path to his field, Sanjeev nursed a grudge and killed him with the help of the other two persons, police said.
During the trial, police presented a strong case before the court with technical, forensic, and eyewitness evidence. Ashok Kumar, superintendent of police, Jagtial, congratulated investigation officer L Srinivas, additional public prosecutor K Mallesham and court duty officers T Ranjith and G Kiran Kumar for presenting solid evidence before the court.
