“I will rededicate myself for making our state a Bangaru Telangana. I will shed my last drop of blood and fight anyone who comes in the way of development of Telangana. We started with a handful of people and we are now a 70-lakh strong political force. We should now ensure that we win the 2019 Assembly elections,“ KCR said. Chandrasekhar Rao elaborated on the various welfare schemes launched by his government and assailed the Congress for coming in the way of the irrigation projects. But, he remained mum on the BJP and made no reference to it during his 40-minute speech.
Referring to the leaders who had opposed the creation of Telangana, KCR said: “Former Congress CM Y S Rajasekhara Reddy had made satirical remarks about the separate statehood demand while his successor Kiran Kumar Reddy had said in the Assembly that he would not give a single rupee for Telangana. But no Congress leader from Telangana had opposed it nor resigned from the party in protest. It is only the TRS leaders who quit their elected posts time and again for the cause of Telangana,“ he said.
Listing out the welfare acti vities taken up by the government, KCR said: “Telangana is the only state in the country which has been spending '40,000 crore on welfare schemes and ensuring that 40 lakh poor old people get pensions.“
He spoke about the sheep rearing scheme that he recently announced for the Yadav, Golla and Kuruma families and said it will generate a revenue of '20,000 crore, which would be equal to the budget of four to five north-eastern states put together.
KCR said on the free fertilizer scheme, the farmers would get their first instalment of '4,000 by May 15 and the second installment by October 15 in their bank accounts. They can use it for fertilizers, seeds, pesticides and coolies.
