HYDERABAD: Sensing delay in the process of formation of Telangana state, the
Telangana Rashtra Samithi chief K Chandrashekar Rao on Sunday decided to tour the region and hold public rallies to exert pressure on the Centre to expedite the formalities. Amid growing criticism about his silence even as the Congress is seemingly dithering on Telangana, KCR convened a meeting of the party leaders at his farm house in Medak and decided to launch the whirlwind tour.
"So far, we adopted a wait-and-watch stand. But the patience of the people is running out. We urge the government to introduce the Telangana bill in the ongoing monsoon session of Parliament, failing which the TRS would launch protests across Telangana," said B Vinod Kumar, a politburo member of TRS. As the session is scheduled to end next week, the TRS leaders also demanded an extension so that the bill could be passed following a debate.
"KCR will tour across Telangana holding public meetings and interacting with party activists," Vinod Kumar said.
While the dates are yet to be finalized, it is likely to be launched from Karimnagar.
